Serbian Orthodox Perth Wedding – Suzana + Giuseppe

I was fortunate enough to have the opportunity to photograph this beautiful serbian orthodox Perth wedding which was held at the parish of the Serbian Orthodox Church of St. Sava in Highgate. It was a first for me to witness such an amazing interior like this and the traditions involved were so different from the weddings I have attended before.

The wedding reception that followed was held at the lovely Caversham House which occurred to me that I haven’t photographed since this wedding way, way back in 2014.  Just like that wedding, it involved a lot of dancing that I couldn’t help but rhythmically bounce along with everyone. I’m pretty sure I looked ridiculous bobbing up and down awkwardly whilst carrying two huge cameras, but I think I was blinding people with my flash anyway…

One of the challenges of the day was the fact that there were a lot of non-English speakers ranging from the guests to parents to groomsmen, but somehow it all worked out OK. It turns out you don’t really need to be able to speak the same language to feel the emotions of a special day like this – and throughout it all, Suzana and Giuseppe were always smiling and laughing in an infectious way.

It’s just one more reason why I love what I do.
